How to Fix Windows Computer Crash Issues
Smart computer systems like most
of the electronics at one time or another will come to the end of life cycle and
ultimately fail to function correctly or will no longer power up completely.
There is, however, a possibility that the computer system may be suffering from
crashes due to either failure in the hardware or conflict in the implementation
of its software elements. For all the computer systems running under Microsoft
Windows Operating System platform, many signs of the system crashes include
dreaded Blue Screen of Death, freezing up preventing the user from restarting
of the machine, automatic restarting of computer or shutting down entirely from
its Graphical User Interface based Operating System. This guide will focus
primarily on the possible causes of software failure. An assumption will be
that all the hardware components are properly functioning.
Materials
required:
- Web browser
- Computer
- Internet
connectivity
- Cleaner
utility
- Operating
System installation disc
Steps
to be followed:
- When the
system crashes, the first thing to be done is to reboot the machine. Do a
soft reboot, click on the “Restart” button. Try to do a hard reboot by
pressing the restart button, or pressing and holding the power button, in
the case of PC.
- If the system
reboots finely, try to trace your steps before cash. If you installed new
software, go to the 7th step. Mostly system crash is caused by errors and
conflicts in the registry of the system.
- Because
registry of Windows is a complex database of configurations and options,
it is difficult to identify errors. Just open the web browser and connect
to the Internet.
- Now download
and install a registry cleaner. Once installed completely, download the
registry cleaner and start registry scanning.
- The registry
cleaner will try to fix the problems found in system registry keys and
will induce the user for a preferred action. Allow scanning and cleaning
to finish and reboot the machine.
- The system
registry now should be clean. Scan regularly and clean registry at least
every two weeks as a preventive measure.
- If the crash
was caused by the newly installed programme, boot in safety mode by
choosing F8 key on the keyboard during the process of Reboot.
- Select ‘Safe
Mode” from Operating system boot option. This will ensure that only
essential components needed by the system will be loaded.
- Hit the
‘Start’ button and select option of ‘Control panel.’
- Choose
‘Add/Remove Programs’ category in the control panel.
- The next
screen will be displaying all currently installed programs on the device.
- Select the
program that caused the crash and click on ‘Remove or Change’ button.
- Follow
prompts to complete the process of uninstallation and reboot the machine
in Normal mode.
- Repeat the
fourth step for making sure that the system registry stays clear and
healthy of orphaned registry keys.
